April 6th is National Library Outreach Day

The Arrowhead Library System meets our patrons where they are to provide great library services.  Across the Northeastern Minnesota area, 27-member public libraries serve the counties of Carlton, Cook, Koochiching, Itasca, Lake, Lake of the Woods and St. Louis.  Patrons can access library materials in additional ways such as the Bookmobile and Mail-A-Book services.

The ALS Bookmobile travels every three weeks to 55 stops throughout our northeastern Minnesota region. The Bookmobile offers print books, cookbooks, large print books, DVDs, audiobooks and video games.  In addition, you can renew your library card, update your library account information, learn how to use library services and participate in special programs. To find out when the bookmobile will be near you, find a map and schedule on our website at alslib.info, click on Services and go to Bookmobile.

With Mail-A-Book, qualifying patrons can get library materials mailed to their home with free return postage included. Patrons who qualify for this service include rural residents and homebound individuals as well as patrons who live in cities without a public library in the ALS seven county area.  Provided free of charge to patrons, it is paid with state and county tax funds. Our annual Love Your Library fundraising campaign helps us to purchase new materials for our collection of books, DVDs, and audio books on CD.  Get more information at alslib.info, click on Services and go to Mail-A-Book.
