The Arrowhead Library System is pleased to present Douglas Wood – EarthSongs, EarthStories a free program being offered at the following dates and locations:
Wednesday, February 5, at 3:30 p.m. Ely Community Center
Thursday, February 6, at Noon at the Grand Rapids Public Library
Author, illustrator, musician, composer, naturalist, and wilderness guide: this is Douglas Wood. Douglas conveys the wonder, beauty, and mystery of the natural world and its relevance to the human spirit. Connecting it all is his passion, to communicate through words and music the inspiration found in Nature–not as a place to visit, but a place to call home.
A program of songs and stories, laughter and painless learning, Douglas Wood’s family program EarthSongs, EarthStories has been performed from coast to coast for tens of thousands of listeners of all ages.
From a Native American legend of how mosquitoes came to be (complete with unexpected audience participation) to songs about frogs and fleas and the signs of rain, to the quiet pondering of our place in the universe, this program takes an audience on a gentle journey.
This event is sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System and funded by money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
