Greetings!  This page is to help public libraries create policies at the local level.  Starting January 1, 2016, all ALS public libraries are required to have six policies in place with library board approval to comply with membership.

  1. Circulation of Materials
  2. Confidentiality of User Records
  3. Fines and Fees
  4. Intellectual Freedom upholding the Library Bill of Rights
  5. Internet Acceptable Use
  6. Materials Selection

Examples have been gathered and posted below so folks don’t have to reinvent the wheel!  Here are the six required policies with library board approval and examples — these have been converted to either PDF or word documents so folks can easily access the language for their own policies:
