The Arrowhead Library System is pleased to offer free event tickets to the Northern Lights Music Festival Opening Night Chamber Concert at Mesabi East High School Auditorium on Saturday, July 2nd at 4:00 p.m. This performance features acclaimed cellist Yosif Feigelson and world-renowned violinist Mikhail Kopelman.

Latvian-born Feigelson was a student of the legendary Mstislav Rostropovich at the Moscow Conservatory. He was a prize winner at both the Tchaikovsky and J.S. Bach Competitions and a recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant.

Kopelman was first violin of the celebrated Borodin Quartet for over two decades and later was first violin of the Tokyo String Quartet. Professor of Violin at the Eastman School of Music, Kopelman has made numerous recordings for EMI, Virgin Classics, Teldec and Philips.

Opening Night Chamber Concert will feature Ravel’s Piano Trio with Veda Zuponcic, Kopelman and Feigelson. Solo performances by Douglas Humphreys, piano; Nicole Oswald, violin; and NLMF participants will be a highlight of this wonderful event. Northern Lights Music Festival was listed in Musical America’s Festivals: 2015 Summer Guide as one of the 10 Best “Off-The-Beaten-Path” Festivals in the World

Pick up your tickets at the public libraries in these communities: Aurora, Babbitt, Buhl, Chisholm, Cloquet, Duluth, Gilbert, Hibbing, Mt. Iron, and Silver Bay. At the last minute, free tickets may still be available at the Aurora Public Library.
