The opportunity
to attend Spotlight on Books was beneficial for me and my work in the
elementary library classroom.  I met MN
authors, explored and purchased new books and visited with other media
Laura Given’s
Friday workshop describing the Star of the North award was great. It will
definitely become an activity for my students.
Young students can play a part by nominating and voting for their
favorite book.  An activity allowed small
groups to evaluate picture books and share their favorites.  It was a nice way for me to generate a quick
list of fun picture books.  She also gave
a quick Twitter tutorial for new ideas to help collaboration and networking.
Meeting and
listening to the MN authors was a treat,
Those presenting were very interesting as they are passionate, creative
and specialized in their genre.  Life
long work and experiences led them to their successes and their stories can
inspire others.  Those with book tables
-thank-you for sharing your work.
My favorite
Lightning Rounds were the Detroit Lake Pubic Library paranormals, the BEST
paperback repair and the iPad transformation to Doc Camera!
