2016 Coloring Book Design Contest

Official Rules and Regulations           

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS: The Coloring Book Design Contest begins on Monday, September 26, 2016 and ends on Friday, October 14, 2016. The contest is sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System (the “Sponsor”) and is paid for in part or in whole with Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment funds. The contest and all entries, including the design submissions, are subject to and governed by the Sponsor and its Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and the additional terms herein. By entering this Contest, you agree to abide by the terms of these Official Contest Rules and Regulations (the “Contest Rules”) and by the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to a contest.

HOW TO ENTER: To enter, download an Entry/Release Form at or go into your local library in the Arrowhead Library System to pick up copies of the forms. Each entrant may submit only one (1) design for consideration. Participation in the contest is voluntary. No illegible, incomplete, or forged entries will be accepted. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and no entries will be returned.

Ownership of Entries:  By submitting an entry, you agree that the Sponsor and its designees have an unlimited, worldwide, perpetual, license and right to edit, publish, use, adapt, copy, disseminate, or dispose of any entry, the design concepts embodied therein or any elements thereof, online, digital, in print, film, television, social media, consumer products, and/or in connection with any other media now known or hereafter devised, for any purpose, worldwide in perpetuity without compensation or notification to or permission from the participant of any kind, except as otherwise prohibited by law.

ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to children and adults and includes amateur, semi-professional, and professional artists of all ages living, working, or studying in the Arrowhead Library System region.

CONTEST CRITERIA: Designs submitted in connection with this Contest must include a black and white line art drawing in black ink or a black marker submitted as a jpg, pdf or drawing on 8 ½ x 11 white paper in a vertical layout within the theme of Up North. Drawing example ideas should represent fun things to do all around the Arrowhead region or represent the uniqueness of the Arrowhead region. No names of businesses or advertising are permitted in the design. There should be open shapes for different colors and solid lines to provide boundaries. Avoid shading lines. The Sponsor may reject any inappropriate design at its sole discretion. Winner(s) will be selected among all eligible entries based on satisfaction of the Contest Criteria, composition and overall all quality, creativity, originality, and overall impression. By entering a contest, entrant warrants that he or she is the sole designer, creator, and legal owner of the entry, including all visual components, and that the work does not contain, incorporate or otherwise use any content, material or element that is owned by a third party or entity, or that violates a third party’s publicity, privacy or intellectual property rights.

SELECTION OF WINNERS: The individual libraries, in their sole and absolute discretion, will select a minimum of one design from each library in the Arrowhead Library System from among the eligible entries. Decisions of the judges are final and binding. The Sponsor will select the winning cover design from the individual library winners.

WINNER NOTIFICATION: The Sponsor will notify each potential winner via email or regular mail to the winner’s registered email address or street address

PRIZES: Inclusion in the 2016 Legacy Coloring Book and a free copy of said book. The top winner, as selected by a committee, will be featured on the cover of the book.

PRIVACY: Entrants agree that personal data submitted with any entry, including name, mailing address, phone number, and email address may be collected, processed, stored and otherwise used by the Sponsor for the purpose of conducting and administering the Contest. The Entrant’s personal data (name and city/town) will appear on one or more of the Sponsor’s websites and in the coloring book.

MISCONDUCT: The Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify or refuse entry to any person who tampers with the registration process or the operation of this Contest.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: Contests and all related web pages and code are the property of the Sponsor. Any copying or unauthorized use of the Sponsor’s materials, trademarks or other intellectual property without the Sponsor’s express written consent is strictly prohibited.
