Handwoven Bookmark Take & Create Art Kits — November 1-30, 2023

The Arrowhead Library System (ALS) will be providing Handwoven Take & Create Art Kits to member public libraries to distribute November 1-30, 2023.  This art experience has been designed by Minnesota artist Erika LeMay, for beginners to explore the art of handweaving.  Take & Create Art Kits will include all supplies needed for the Handwoven Bookmark project: a wooden beginner loom, tapestry needle, two mini skeins of yarn, scissors, and an instructional printout. A video tutorial will be shared online for participants.

“These kits are a wonderful introduction to one of the oldest crafts in history,” said LeMay. “My hope is to share this skill with others and instill the sense that it is more than just weaving, it’s about what we discover in the process and the experiences that are infused in the fibers.”

“We are absolutely delighted to be working with Erika and to offer a new art experience for regional patrons,” said Mollie Stanford, ALS Regional Librarian.

This program is geared towards those ages 8 and up, as younger kids may need assistance.  Please note, each location has a limited number of kits. Kits will be distributed at the following public libraries and ALS outreach locations:
