Chione Woodwind Quintet will present Story Time with Chione, an interactive, culturally diverse musical performance combined with narration. Chione will perform a work written called Pāka’a Lanakila by composer Jon Magnussen for woodwind quintet and narrator about a boy in Hawaii named Pāka’a. The ensemble will engage children by intertwining musical learning, storytelling and American Sign Language. Participants will use these signs to interact with the music throughout the piece as they listen for and identify each theme with the appropriate signs in context. This 45-minute story time program can be enjoyed by ALL ages, from babies to children at heart.

This program, sponsored by Arrowhead Library System, was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.  The Residency by the Chione Quintet, organized in partnership with the Arrowhead Library System, has been made possible with support from Chamber Music America through its Residency Endowment Funds.  To learn more about Arrowhead Legacy Events, please see our calendar at www.alslib.info, follow us on Twitter @ALSLibraryNews, or like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/alslibinfo
